The Hunt for Creativity
Feeling stuck in a creative rut and on the hunt for inspiration? This is a lot more common than you might think. It happens to most of us on any given Sunday! A creative rut is what happens when you feel bored, frustrated, and lacking ideas. Experiencing occasional moments of lack of creativity is something that Creatives and Entrepreneurs are very familiar with. However, it’s not meant to last! Finding inspiration in simple things is one great way to boost your creativity and declutter your mind.
Finding Ways to Boost your Creativity
Here’s a list of simple ways to find creative inspiration that will #BoostYourMusa and get your ideas flowing.
1. Read a book
As entrepreneurs, we read when we have free time, but also when we need to feel inspired by something not related to our work. Reading inspires you to be more creative by expanding your horizon and your way of thinking.
2. Get some fresh air
Take your work outside, change the scenery, and get some fresh air. The environment in which we work makes a really big difference in our mood and concentration levels. Work from a park, or even from your backyard! Adding nature into your workday can really increase your productivity and boost your creativity.
3. Drawing or Coloring
As simple as taking out your Mandalas coloring book, or even making drawings on your own. Drawing and coloring stimulate our brain and improves focus. It’s also known to be another form of mindfulness meditation.
Writing about your goals, ideas, and things you like to do in your free time, helps you stay in a constant goal seeker attitude. Journaling is a way of self-expression. This means that there are no rules for it! You can write about anything and be creative with it.
5. Declutter your workspace
Not a single creative thing can come from working on a messy desk. Decluttering gives your creativity a boost. This instant sense of freedom allows your brain to focus and helps you feel more energized. Studies have shown that those with cluttered environments are prone to higher levels of stress and anxiety.
6. Practice a hobby
Practicing a hobby is like a confidence booster! When you realize you’re good at something, it makes you feel good about yourself. It’s a stress-free activity for enjoyment that clarifies the mind and increases happiness.
7. Listen to podcasts
Listening to motivational podcasts is a great way to nurture creativity and find inspiration when you’re feeling stuck creatively. The School of Greatness with Lewis Howes is a great podcast to listen to if you’re in search of a motivation boost.
8. Go Hiking
Feeling uninspired or not, this is something you should regularly do. Hiking is known to boost creativity and heal the body. A research study revealed how hiking in nature can reduce rumination. It also indicates how natural environments with open views and lack of distracting noises are often chosen as preferred restorative environments. So, every time you can, choose nature!
9. Embrace failure
As weird as it may sound, chances are you’re going to get familiar with failure. The way we see it, in order to be creative and innovative in your ideas, you have to be willing to take risks. You have to be willing to fail. Creativity is a journey. In fact, in this journey, you will take some wrong turns along the way. But it is in the failures we have that creativity finds its way into something magical. Don’t be afraid to fail, embrace it when it happens. This is what we like to call inspiration fuel!
